Sustainability | MSP Springs & Stampings | Sustainable Engineering

Recycling and eliminating single-use packaging are active initiatives within MSP and with our business partners.

Sustainable Engineering

At MSP, we’re committed to a series of new, industry-leading procedures that will help to reduce carbon emissions, improve sustainability in manufacturing and engineering and bring the current industry standards in line with those that are being encouraged by the UK government’s Net-Zero 2050 plan.

The renewable energy sector is one of our key markets at MSP, and we are proud to supply it. With the rise of renewable energy, our sustainable metal spring and stamping solutions are playing a crucial role in the growth of this industry.

We strive to be an industry leader within our sustainability practices, as well as a role model for others to follow when ensuring sustainability in manufacturing and engineering.

Carbon Literacy Training

We are immensely proud to announce that our Managing Director Neil Matthews is certified as Carbon Literate by The Carbon Literacy Project in the field of sustainability.

The concept of Carbon Literacy is defined as recognising the impact of carbon dioxide on everyday activities and being able and motivated to reduce emissions at the individual, community, and organisational levels.

We are now certified as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation. Our Digital Marketer, Matthew Freeman, has also been enrolled in the ‘Train the Trainer’ program, which will help us to conduct in-house carbon literacy training for all of our team.

As we progress towards becoming a Platinum Level Carbon Literate Organisation, we will soon have 100% of our workforce certified as Carbon Literate.

Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)

In order to ensure our activities are always sustainable, we set the bar high for our commitment always to follow best practices. We have reflected this within our organisation by introducing a program in which ESG training is provided to all our staff members.

Recycling at MSP

As a result of our commitment to reducing plastic waste, both internally as well as in our business relationships with our partners, we actively promote recycling and the elimination of single-use packaging in our fight against plastic waste.

Additionally, we have taken the key decision to switch over to paper packaging tape as a replacement for our vinyl packaging tape. With the introduction of the new paper tape, every MSP order will be able to be recycled easily since the new paper tape is 100% recyclable.

Sustainable Engineering Leaders

At MSP, sustainable engineering and manufacturing is a key part of our vision and values. It permeates every aspect of our business, from the way we buy, to the way we manufacture, to the way we use our office space. Sustainability has become a new way of thinking for us, and you can see this in action in a number of ways.

  • On-site Bee hive, helping to combat the global reduction in bee population
  • Elimination of single-use packaging that helps us reduce our carbon footprint and waste e.g. implementation of paper tape on our packaging
  • Hybrid vehicles within our company fleet
  • LED lighting in our office and factory
  • Members of our team receiving Carbon Literacy Training
  • We procure our electricity through only 100% renewable sources
  • We provide tangible support to promote the use of cycles for commuting
